Cisco Planer Systems

A planer board system is how a trolling boat covers water: the mast and reels pay out the tow line, and the boards carry your lines 50 to 150 feet to the side of the boat, through water the boat never touches. Cisco's side of it is machined aluminum — manual and electric reels, single and dual masts, and the pulleys and clamps that rig it.

Electric reels earn their place when you're clearing lines constantly or fishing deep spreads; manual reels are the simpler, lighter rig for smaller programs. Mast height matters more than most expect — higher masts keep tow lines out of the water and boards running true in a chop.

Our Dockside guide to Cisco planer systems explains how masts, reels and boards work as one system, and the Dockside planer board setup checklist is the rigging order to follow.
