Guardian G-23 Anchor - 13lb

Guardian anchors benefit from years of Fortress research and development, offering excellent quality, performance, and economy.  These anchors are manufactured from the same corrosion-resistant, high-tensile aluminum magnesium alloy as Fortress, which makes them stronger and lighter than competitive steel anchors.

With Guardian anchors, several Fortress machining steps and extra features, such as anodizing and adjustable fluke angles, are eliminated.  The Guardian Anchor is limited to one, single, 32-degree angle, which will work for most common sea bottoms.  The result is a high-performance anchor that is engineered for fast setting and strong holding power, and a very affordable alternative to those heavy, rust-prone steel anchors.

As strong as steel, but only half the weight, Guardian anchors are second only to Fortress FX model in holding power tests. They make an excellent spare or storm anchor for your boat or yacht.

How to Set a Fluke Anchor - Fortress Marine Anchors

Setting a fluke or Danforth style anchor is one of the most valuable skills that you could learn as a boater. In this video, we teach you how to set your Fortress or Guardian Anchor in a deep water anchorage and at the sand bar. Remember, when using a Fortress or Guardian Anchor, it's their superior design that creates the holding power, not their weight. As such, you're going to want to make sure you have a long enough anchor rode with enough line and chain to get the flukes to dig in. Additionally, you'll want to make sure that you're accounting for swing so as not to let your boat swing into other boats or structures near your vessel. This video will help you account for all the safety steps you need to take to get a strong and safe set from your fluke or Danforth style anchor.

How Fortress Became the World's Best Anchor

Fortress Anchors started in 1986 when our founder, and avid cruiser, Don Hallerberg, experienced a series of anchor failures at sea. He knew there had to be a better, and safer, way to anchor. He went to work and he created an anchor out of light weight high tensile aluminum-magnesium alloy, without any welds that could fail. The result was the Fortress Anchor, a light weight anchor that could easily be disassembled for stowage, who's parts could easily be replaced. He put the Fortress Anchor to the test in over 20 world wide, including the Biscayne Bay challenge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SCSRACVYYM&t=53s) where a 69lb lb Fortress Anchor brought a tug boat at full steam to a complete halt. The line eventually separated and snapped, but the Fortress Anchor was brought to the surface without a scratch. There was also the Chesapeake Bay test where independent researchers tested the Fortress against 12 different anchor configurations, and the Fortress was shown to hold stronger and set faster than each alternative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5ODGArRx34&t=30s. Today, Fortress Anchors are still proudly made here in the USA and we still offer our industry-leading lifetime parts replacement warranty.
