HydroFix™ Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU)

The HydroFix™ Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is a patented rod system that allows a beacon to be quickly and reliably released from a Category I bracket when submerged in water between  4.9' to 13.1' (1.5 to 4 M.)   Does not rely on a battery, blade or pyrotechnic device to release the beacon.  This advantage allows for a quick, seamless and reliable release in an emergency.

ACR Sea Shelter™ Category 1 Bracket EPRIB Deployment 00:16

Watch as we test a Category 1 automatic deployment Sea Shelter EPIRB bracket, monitoring the depth at which the HydroFix™ Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) activates, to automatically deploy the GlobalFix™ V4 Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB). Harsh conditions don’t stand a chance against the Sea Shelter Category 1. This EPIRB bracket is fully enclosed, which provides protection during even your wildest adventures. Should your vessel start to take on water, the Sea Shelter will automatically deploy your EPIRB and send a signal to a worldwide network of search and rescue satellites. This bracket fits GlobalFix V4 EPIRBs only. The HydroFix Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is a patented rod system that allows a beacon to be quickly and reliably released from a Category I bracket when submerged in water between 1.5 to 4 meters (4.9 to 13.1 feet). Category 1 Brackets automatically deploys EPIRB when vessel sinks while a Category 2 Brackets must be manually deployed from the bracket in an emergency. Category1 Brackets contains a Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) which needs to be replaced every 2 years. Both category type brackets have a built-in deactivation water sensor to prevent false alarms should the beacon get wet while in its bracket. Both brackets allow for manual activation of beacon while in bracket as long as the beacon antenna is positioned to the sky. Category 1 Brackets provide protection for the EPIRB from UV exposure.
